  • 4.5 km around the city
  • five boarding points
  • Ask for the brochure a the tourism

The Ramparts walk unlocks the most beautiful spots on the fortifications around the entire outskirts of the city, from high on the ramparts to low along the canals. The route also explores the lost fortifications in the north and northwest of the city.

You can start the walk from five entry points. Info panels along the route tell about the 10 centuries of history of the fortified landscape and its typical nature. The route is 4.5 km long in total, good for 2 hours of hiking fun. You can also explore part of the route, or you can expand the route to include three beautiful sub-areas: the Ketelkwaad (with play impulses) and Hamilton Park west of Majoorgracht, the eastern Hoornwerkpark and the 'Verdronken Weide' south of the city.

The Ramparts walk brochure is available free of charge from the Tourism Office or download below
