In Flanders Fields Museum

  • A visit takes 1.5 to 2 hours on average.
    Also visit the belfry and the carillon. In return for the 231 steps you get a fantastic view over Ypres and the Westhoek. (€2.00 extra per person).

The museum brings the historical story of World War I to the West Flanders front region. It is housed in the rebuilt Cloth Halls of Ypres, an important symbol of war suffering and of resurrection.

From this symbolic accommodation, the museum also pays great attention to the contemporary landscape as one of the last tangible witnesses. During your visit (and after climbing 231 additional steps) you can look out over the city and surrounding battlefields from the restored Belfry....

Yper Museum

The Yper Museum brings you eleven centuries of Ypres and the Westhoek. You will discover a unique collection of badges, maps, archaeological finds, coins, lace and handicrafts and so much more. Children can literally sit right in the middle of medieval Ypres thanks to the giant model of the city. The bracelet with cat's paw makes your visit to the Yper Museum a personal and playful experience.

Extra: Go on a cat hunt before or after your visit. This playful quest in the city center shows you things you can also discover in the museum. Cost is 2.50 euros per participant and after playing you will receive a gift for each Cat Hunt purchased.

Merghelynck Museum

  • During Open Monument Day and Heritage Day, the Merghelynck Museum is often free to visit.

Step inside the Merghelynck Museum and imagine yourself in the 18th century. Here you stroll through elegant salons, beautiful mirrored rooms and playful boudoirs. The wonderful art collection, collected by Arthur Merghelynck in the 19th century, also includes several gems. From unique porcelain to ornate musical instruments, you'll breathe in the wig time here.

Hooge Crater Museum

The Hooge Crater Museum displays lots of authentic and original objects from the First World War. Weapons, uniforms and life at the front. For families with children, the Hooge Boys' trail is a must: assignments, videos and facts from the First World War, which you as a parent also learn a lot from.

At the Hooge Crater Museum you will also find a themed cafe with lots of trench art, the Entry Point East with a walk to the crater forest and the 2nd largest cemetery in the region: Hooge Crater Cemetery.

Hill 62 Sanctuary Woods

Near Hill 62 one can find the Sanctuary Woods Museum.
In addition to equipment and weapons, the museum includes preserved trenches and underground structures.
